A description of the breakthrough Dilboost technology is as follows; "The Dilboost technology is a proprietary blend of light hydrocarbon-based materials that are readily available within the oil industry at commodity pricing and can be easily produced through a blending process at refineries. Dilboost reduces the density and viscosity of heavy crude oil blends in accordance with traditional mass balance calculations. The value added benefit to industry is that Dilboost reduces heavy crude blend viscosity to a significantly greater degree than current market diluent.
Dilboost becomes homogeneous with the oil and does not require separation or de-emulsification. Dilboost is compatible with heavy crude and bitumen production and has no adverse effects to refineries or pipelines. Dilboost can also be blended with current diluents to create customer specific and optimized diluent streams. The Dilboost product creates a cost effective, optimized diluent for heavy oil producers. With Canadian crude oil pipeline specifications being 350cSt viscosity and 940kg/m3 density, Dilboost is capable of exceeding industry standards for both density and viscosity increasing net backs to heavy oil producers for diluted crude oil (DCO)."
